Early Season Alpenglow


When one of the first snowfalls of the season moved away in the late afternoon, it left behind more than a dusting of snow: golden light left the mountain glowing.

New Victory Highway


Work began recently on the new "Victory Highway" in West Steamboat Springs. Crews are leveling a massive hillside adjacent to the Steamboat Springs Airport for the project.

Eye of the Earth


Water pours from the Steamboat Spring, for which the city of Steamboat Springs got its name. The spring used to make a chugging sound and when early trapper heard it from a distance, they thought they had reached navigable waters and were hearing a steamboat. The sound disappeared when crews laid track for the nearby railroad.
